As you use Soundflavor DJ, the software attempts to “Quick Scan” the songs in your library for the purposes of downloading corresponding album covers and generating song recommendations. As part of this process, Soundflavor DJ sends information corresponding to the songs in your personal music library, such as artist and song names, over the Internet to a central server operated by us in the United States. This information is logged for quality of service purposes, but is never shared with outside companies or with other users.
If Soundflavor DJ is unable to verify a song in your library by looking it up in our central server, the software uses a process called “fingerprinting” to more accurately identify the song in question. The fingerprinting process generates a unique ID for each such song, which is then sent over the Internet to servers operated by MusicIP, a third-party company. Fingerprints are generated for the sole purpose of identifying songs which cannot be identified as part of Soundflavor DJ‘s “Quick Scanning” process, and no personal information is transmitted with these fingerprints. MusicIP‘s privacy policy may be viewed at http://www.musicip.com/privacy.jsp
As you play music using Soundflavor DJ, ID codes corresponding to the songs you play are transmitted to our central servers for the purposes of generating targeted advertising that relates to the music that you are listening to, such as recommended songs for purchase, concert tickets, and other merchandise. No personal information is transmitted during these requests.
As you use Soundflavor DJ, the software will occasionally upload information about your listening habits-including play counts, and ID codes for the songs you play-to Soundflavor‘s central servers for the purpose of allowing you to share your tastes in music with other users of the Web Site. You may choose to hide this information from other users at any time by changing your account settings from your personal home page on the Web Site.
During the use of Soundflavor DJ, you may choose to upload your playlists to our central database for the purpose of sharing your playlist with other people on the Web Site, or for creating a PlayStrip to share your playlist with other people on any web site. We do not share your playlists with other companies. You may, at any time, change the privacy setting for any of your playlists to “private” if you do not wish to share a playlist you uploaded with other people.
We use certain technical information about your computer-such as the version of the operating system or web browser that you use-in order to operate, maintain and manage Soundflavor DJ. None of the technical information is personal information.
Our primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide you with a friendly, customized, and efficient experience.
